travelling light Joel Hanson & Sara Groves

‘Traveling Light’ is a compilation inspired from Max Lucado’s 6th book of the same name, taken from a series sermons derived from the 23rd Psalm. Said to be the most read verse in the bible.

Musically the album is a cross between folk and acoustic pop with a couple of ballads intertwined throughout.

Kicking off the album is the title track ‘Traveling Light’ an acoustic folk pop song by Joel Hanson (of PfR) and Sara Groves, it is always a pleasure listening to Joel, and Sara compliments on vocals very nicely. Amy Grant follows with a ‘Good Shepherd’ a hymn like ballad. The breathy vocals of Jaci Velasquez in the acoustic driven ‘In Green Pastures’ speaks of being refreshed in the quiet time with the Lord. Third Day’s Mac Powell with Ashley Cleveland on background vocals sing ‘Mountain Of God’ which builds greatly into a powerful worship song and proves to be one of the highlights on this album. Fleming and John combine sweet harmonies with an atmospheric ballad on ‘Savior Like A Shepherd Lead Us’. Michael Tait’s (Tait & dcTalk) ‘Follow Me’ is the rockiest tracks on the album, and another album highlight. Closing the album is ‘Rest In Me’ comprising of soft piano and the gentle vocals of Derri Daughtery.

‘Traveling Light’ is chock full inspiring songs by inspired artists and what better to be inspired by than the Word of God. With the all-star line-up that this album boasts, expectations are definitely going to be high, thankfully it doesn’t disappoint.

Traveling Light

I was doubling over the load on my shoulders
was a weight i carried with me everyday
crossing miles of frustrations and rivers a raging
picking up stones I found along the way
I staggered and I stumbled down
pathways of trouble
I was hauling those souvenirs of misery
and with each step taken my back was breaking
'til I found the one who took it all from me
down by the riverside
(down by the riverside)
I laid my burdens down,
now I'm traveling light
my spirit lifted high
(I found my freedom now)
I found my freedom now
and I'm traveling light
through the darkest alleys and loneliest valleys
I was dragging those heavy chains of doubt and fear
then with the one word spoken the locks were broken
now he's leading me to places
where there are no tears
down by the riverside
(down by the riverside)
I laid my burdens down,
now I'm traveling light
my spirit lifted high
(I found my freedom now)
I found my freedom now
and I'm traveling light
down by the riverside
I laid my burdens down,
now I'm traveling light
my spirit lifted high
i found my freedom now
and i'm traveling light
down by the riverside
(down by the riverside)
I laid my burdens down,
now i'm traveling light
my spirit lifted high
(I found my freedom now)
i found my freedom now
and i'm traveling light
down by the riverside
(down by the riverside)
I laid my burdens down,
now I'm traveling light
my spirit lifted high
(I found my freedom now)
i found my freedom now
and i'm traveling light
(traveling light, traveling light)
i found my freedom now
(traveling light, traveling light)

Title:Travelling Light

Hi there!
I first want to tell you that I love the site you made. Very to the point, neat and suscint, which I guess is the best you can make of a website for nothing but lyrics.
Anyway, in Travelling Light, I'm pretty sure she says hair instead of head.
So here it goes, fully corrected:
There are places I don't remember
There are times and days, they mean nothing to me
I've been looking through some of them old pictures
They don't serve to jog my memory
I'm not waking in the morning, staring at the walls these days
I'm not getting out the boxes, spread all over the floor
I've been looking through some of them old pictures
Those faces they mean nothing to me no more
Chorus:
I travel light
You travel light
Everything I've done
You say you can justify, mmm you travel light
I can't pick them out, I can't put them in these sad old bags
Some things you have to lose along the way
Times are hard, I'll only pick them out, wish I was going back
Times are good, you'll be glad you ran away
(Chorus)
Do you remember, how much you loved me?
You say you have no room in that thick old hair
Well it comes with the hurt and the guilt, and the memories
If I had to take them with me I would never get from my bed
There's a crack in the roof where the rain pours through
That's the place you always decide to sit
Yeah I know I'm there for hours, the water running down (my) (your)face
Do you really think you keep it all that well hid?
No but I travel light
You don't travel light
Everything I've done
It's just a lie, you don't travel light
I'm travelling light
No you don't travel light
I'm travelling light
No, no, you don't travel light
I'm travelling light
You don't travel light
